At the centre of the story are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two criminals whose ambitions, troubled pasts and complicated relationship will drive the action across Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida.

But GTA 6 is about much more than its two protagonists.

There's an ageing drug smuggler operating out of the Leonida Keys, an ambitious bank robber looking for his next big score, a nightclub owner with a growing business empire and two aspiring rap stars using social media to chase fame.

Add eccentric conspiracy theorists, questionable business executives, wealthy clients and dangerous criminals, and GTA 6 already has the foundations of one of Rockstar's most colourful casts.

Following the game's second trailer in May 2025 and the extensive August 2026 gameplay showcase, we now know considerably more about the people Jason and Lucia will encounter.

Some have detailed official biographies. Others have appeared in gameplay footage without Rockstar fully explaining their roles.

And, naturally, there are plenty of theories about returning characters, mysterious villains and familiar faces from previous Grand Theft Auto games.

Rockstar has published eight principal character-profile entries, covering nine individually named people because the musical duo Real Dimez consists of two performers.

The roster includes both playable protagonists and six supporting-character profiles.

However, they aren't the only named people in the game.

She's one of the game's two playable protagonists and the first woman to occupy such a prominent, fully developed leading role in a modern mainline Grand Theft Auto story.

Rockstar introduced Lucia in the first official GTA 6 trailer, opening with a memorable scene inside Leonida Penitentiary.

When asked why she ended up there, Lucia casually attributes her circumstances to bad luck.

But her official biography reveals that there's considerably more to her past.
