Sodapoppin is one of the true veterans of livestreaming. Thomas Chance Morris was streaming World of Warcraft from his bedroom in Texas years before Twitch existed. More than 15 years later he is still one of its most-followed channels, now a co-owner of the One True King (OTK) group. His dry humour, his love of strange indie games and his chaotic weekend streams have kept a loyal audience with him for most of his life.

From Xfire to Twitch

According to Dot Esports, Morris first went live in 2008 on Xfire, a gaming chat and streaming service, when he was a teenager. He was best known as a World of Warcraft player, and by the time he moved to Twitch in 2012 he already had a large, loyal audience, which gave him a big head start on the new platform.

In early 2015 he took a risk and stepped away from WoW, the game that made him, to stream whatever caught his eye. It worked. He became one of Twitch's first big variety streamers, and his habit of picking up odd, little-known games and sending them to the top of Twitch's directory became his trademark.

Biggest streaming moments

In 2014 and 2015 he streamed online blackjack, winning and losing thousands of dollars a day. In May 2015 he lost $5,000 on a single hand in front of more than 43,000 viewers. Those streams were years before Twitch tightened its gambling rules.

His best-known impact on gaming came in 2020. Innersloth's co-founder Forest Willard has said the first sign that Among Us was taking off was "a Twitch stream from Sodapoppin". Within weeks the game was everywhere. His long-running Shit Show Saturday streams, where he and his chat pick through the weirdest games they can find, are built on the same idea.

Business: Northern Gaming, NRG and OTK

In May 2016 he co-founded Northern Gaming, a Canadian esports team that grew quickly. NRG Esports, whose backers include Shaquille O'Neal and Alex Rodriguez, bought it in August 2017, and Morris joined NRG's ownership group as an adviser.

In July 2022 he joined One True King as a co-owner, as Dexerto reported. The Austin-based group was founded in October 2020 by Asmongold, Mizkif, Esfand, Rich Campbell and Tips Out, and runs events such as the OTK Expo, where the photo in our quick facts was taken in 2024.

Collaborations and friends

His most familiar partner on stream is his long-time friend and OTK co-owner Nmplol (Nick Polom), and many of his most-shared moments come from their IRL streams together. He has also streamed regularly with Esfand, Asmongold and Mizkif. Esfand also took the photo used on our xQc profile. He features in our list of the best American Twitch streamers.

What he streams in 2026

World of Warcraft is back at the centre of his channel. Through autumn 2026 he has been playing Blizzard's new WoW Forever servers, alongside his usual variety and IRL streams with Nmplol.

Sodapoppin's net worth

He has never disclosed his wealth, and there is no verified figure. Third-party trackers, including figures attributed to Sportskeeda and Press.farm, usually estimate $6 million to $10 million, and InfluencerFee gives $8 million. Treat these as rough estimates. His income comes from Twitch subscriptions and ads, YouTube, sponsorships and his stakes in OTK and, previously, NRG.
