In this guide
No streamer has turned a Twitch channel into a live event quite like Kai Cenat. Kai Carlo Cenat III is the Bronx-born creator behind the Mafiathon marathons, the first Twitch channel to pass a million subscribers and a guest list that runs from LeBron James to Ed Sheeran. He's loud, funny and relentlessly ambitious, and his streams feel more like TV specials than webcam shows.

Who is Kai Cenat?
Kai Cenat was born on 16 December 2001 in New York City and grew up in the Bronx, which makes him 24. He mixes Just Chatting, reactions, gaming, music and huge IRL productions, often with celebrity guests and his friends from the AMP collective.
As of 26 October 2026 he had about 21.9 million followers on Twitch and 8.25 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel. He also runs a second channel, kai's Mind, and a clothing brand, Vivet.
Early life and YouTube start
Cenat is a Bronx native and attended the State University of New York at Morrisville. He started on YouTube in 2018, posting reaction videos, vlogs and skits, as NBC News reported. In 2021 he joined AMP (Any Means Possible), a collective of Black creators whose group videos put a chaotic spin on formats like rap cyphers and dating shows.
Rise to streaming fame
He moved into livestreaming on Twitch in 2021 and grew at a remarkable pace. Rappers such as Ice Spice, Lil Baby and 21 Savage started turning up on his streams, and his energy made him a favourite with the hip-hop world.
His breakthrough came in early 2023, when he streamed 24/7 for 30 days. Tubefilter reported that the marathon generated about 2.5% of Twitch's entire global watch time and made him the platform's most-subscribed streamer of all time. That March he was named Streamer of the Year at The Streamer Awards, and he won it again in February 2024. For more big US names, see our list of the best American Twitch streamers.

Biggest streaming moments
Mafiathon 3 and the million-sub record
His Mafiathon marathons became the biggest events on Twitch. Mafiathon 2, at the end of 2024, took him past 700,000 active subscribers. Mafiathon 3 ran from 1 to 30 September 2025 and was billed as the last. Guests included Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran and Linkin Park, who played a surprise set, and Snoop Dogg gifted 50,000 subs.
On 28 September 2025 he became the first Twitch streamer to reach one million active subscribers. Guinness World Records lists his final total of 1,095,265 on 30 September as the most subscribers on a Twitch channel. That finale, in which LeBron James shaved off his locs, reached a peak of about 1,005,000 concurrent viewers according to Streams Charts. He also used the marathon to raise money to build a school in Nigeria.
Exploring the Unexplored
After a long break, he came back in 2026 with Streamer University and gaming marathons with IShowSpeed, then launched an IRL travel series called Exploring the Unexplored. On 26 September 2026 he went 120 metres down into Iceland's Þríhnúkagígur volcano for a stream of just over seven hours, reported as the first livestream from inside a volcano. The second episode took him back to Japan with Taiwanese streamer Ray from 21 October 2026.
Collaborations and achievements
Collaboration is his whole format. Beyond AMP, his streams have featured LeBron James, Kim Kardashian, Snoop Dogg and a long list of rappers, while his Japan trips with Ray and his marathons with IShowSpeed show how much he leans on other streamers. Streamer University, his programme for up-and-coming creators, turned that into a show of its own.
His trophy cabinet matches. He won Streamer of the Year at The Streamer Awards in 2023 and 2024. At the December 2025 ceremony he took Best Just Chatting Streamer and Best Streamed Collab for his stream with LeBron James, and Mafiathon 3 also won its category. The Guinness record for most Twitch subscribers is his too.
Personal life, controversies and net worth
The Union Square giveaway
On 4 August 2023 he promoted a giveaway of gaming consoles and PC gear in Union Square, Manhattan. Thousands of fans turned up, the crowd turned violent and police made more than 60 arrests. Cenat was charged with inciting a riot, riot and unlawful assembly. In May 2024 prosecutors agreed to drop the case after he paid $55,000 in restitution and posted a public apology, AP reported. He admitted he had created 'an unintentional dangerous situation'.
Vivet and the break from streaming
In December 2025 he announced Vivet, a clothing brand whose name is Latin for 'he, she or it will live forever', and said at the Streamer Awards that he wanted to become a fashion designer. He took about nine months away from streaming to design the first collection. Vivet made its runway debut at New York Fashion Week on 12 September 2026, with streamers including Ray and Duke Dennis on the catwalk, as Complex reported.
Kai Cenat's net worth
There's no verified figure for Kai Cenat's net worth, so treat any exact number online as a guess. Twitch doesn't publish creator earnings, and he has never disclosed a contract or salary. What is public is the scale: a record 1.1 million active subscribers at the end of Mafiathon 3, plus YouTube, sponsorships and his Vivet brand. How much of that reaches him after Twitch's share and production costs isn't known.
Published estimates range from $35 million (Marca, January 2026) to $45 million (Celebrity Net Worth). Neither is based on disclosed accounts, so treat both as rough guides.
