I have been a huge Walking Dead fan for many years and honestly can’t get enough of the franchise. So when I saw that there was a game that had come out, I had to jump on it without any questions. I have to admit, I was not disappointed as the game lived up to all the expectations that I had for it and in some regards almost was as good as watching the series itself. This is a good example of what happens when you have a video game maker that works with a popular television franchise and they create a product that is pure magic. I want to lay out a few of the things that I found when playing this game that made me an instant fan.
I had a friend that was not a fan of the series, in fact, he had never watched a single episode in his life. That was okay as it did not mean anything, you can still play the game and never have watched a single minute. The game does a good job of helping to bring people that are new to the franchise up to date and doing so without making them feel stupid for it. The game play is very easy to learn and will not take much before you are slashing away at zombies and following the well laid out story line that has been put together.
Many people will look at the game and see there are new characters and will wonder who these people are. Good thing the story will lay out their back story as well as help to get you caught up with who is who in the game. Once you get to playing it does not take long for the slashing to begin and you to be one on one with some of the baddest zombies around. I found even the first level to be quite a challenge and that was on the easiest level. This could be the one thing that will get a player to shy away from the game if they are the type of person that likes to get their feet wet. Now that we have talked about the game play, let’s look at the workings of the game that involve soundtrack as well as graphics.
The graphics are second to none. In some regards, you will have a hard time distinguishing between the game and the show. That is the good news, the less than good news is that there is a lack of good music when it comes to the game. The music is not bad, but it leaves a little to be desired. In regards to what I had hoped for in my mind. That being said, if you like the type of music, then you will be in love with the soundtrack. In the end, this is one of the best games I have seen in the last several months, it is at the top of my list of games that I enjoy to play.
