While Formula One and NASCAR are highly attractive sports, not many fans will be able to be real-life drivers. Nevertheless, the closest thing is playing car racing games. Ever since the introduction of Java apps, on Android and iOS applications, racing games have continued to thrive.

The experience is even more engaging than ever before with the improved car controls that have accompanied smartphones. These include playing with directions on the screen, tilting the phone or making use of the controllers to steer vehicles. With several titles in the market today, we have provided you with our top five games, the ones which thrilled us and had us going back for more.

    Table of Contents
    1. Asphalt 9: Legends
    2. Beach Buggy Racing 2
    3. Dirt Trackin’ 2
    4. CSR Racing 2
    5. GRID Autosport

    Asphalt 9: Legends

    Free to play

A product of Gameloft, Asphalt is one of those titles that has already established itself as a premium gaming title on Java phones. The series has consistently been impressive but Asphalt 9 was a major hit amongst racing game fans.

Asphalt 9 offers what one can describe as a complete experience. These include solid mechanics, excellent graphics, and extensive content. In the single-player campaign, you can explore more than 800 events. It includes weekly and monthly campaigns, as well as an online multiplayer mode.

    Beach Buggy Racing 2

    Free to play

If you enjoyed playing Mario Kart, then Beach Buggy Racing 2 is one title that will bring back memories. It’s all about Kart Racing, with a wide variety of abilities that enhance your performance.

The game features multiple racetracks in different locations, accompanied by hurdles you must avoid while speeding to the finish line. You can play with up to 40 karts which can be customized. Players also enjoy over 45 power-ups, with some being exclusive to the selected characters.

Unlike most Vector Unit games, this second version of Beach Buggy requires playing with an internet connection. You can try out Beach Buggy Racing if you prefer offline play. It offers similar gameplay but not as many tracks as in the more recent one.

    Dirt Trackin’ 2

    Price: $3.99

A sequel to the original Dirt Trackin’ game. It features a career campaign and up to five car models. You also get the chance to put your creativity to test as cars are customizable to suit your taste.

While the graphics cannot be compared to the Asphalt series, it is better than what was offered in the first version. Mechanics were also above average. Players have the chance of PvP online multiplayer modes and can customize controls.

Notable features of this title include the drivers and tracks, some of which are based on real-life characters and places. Its latest update supports the use of Xbox, PS4, PS5, and other controllers.

    CSR Racing 2

    Free to play

One of the most played titles on Android and iOS devices, this drag racing game lets you compete against live players across the world. You are able to purchase iconic cars and make upgrades. Some motor vehicles you can race with include a McLaren F1, Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, and Lamborghini Countach LP 5000 Quattrovalvole amongst other classics.

    GRID Autosport

    Free to play

If you want a PC-like car racing experience on your handheld device, this is a proper title to try out. Released in 2019, the game features more than 100 vehicles with a total of up to 100 races. You can also check out the 4 best racing games for PC.

With a focus on a single-player campaign, it supports gamepad controllers for an epic experience. You also have the choice of selecting between tilt, wheel touch, and arrow touch controls.
