They are the device that we slip into a USB port with ease, yet it can be easy to ignore the security flaws involved when thinking about a USB stick. These minute devices are becoming more powerful and it won’t be long before serious processing power can make such a device question the desktop computers of today. However, with the leaps of tomorrow just around the corner, today we look at why you should consider owning a password protected USB stick. Let’s begin.

From cassettes and VHS to CDRs and Blu-ray, physical media has certainly evolved, and will continue to, even with the suggestion of virtual alternatives. With more uses than one, a USB stick allows a user to carry their media on-the-go without the need for an internet connection. Furthermore, they are becoming very powerful and affordable – it makes sense to own one.

There are many scenarios that make owning such a device useful, for example, transferring video game captures from the PS4 to a laptop or PC. Maybe you are in a business meeting and wish to share some important presentation material with colleagues.

One feature you won’t find common with a USB stick is password protection, especially in-built. For certain people, this won’t be an issue. However, for others, this should be of major importance. These tiny devices that sit in our pockets can easily be lost, and it could have serious consequences if found by the wrong individual.

The beauty of owning a password protected USB stick is the fact that only you can access the data stored on the device. Certainly, a positive feature for those might be storing sensitive data, such as business material or personal and private documents. Of course, there are methods that can be used within the realms of software, but having an in-built solution is far more secure.

Surprisingly, you’ll find very few password protected USB stick options available for purchase – but the datAshur Personal 2 USB 3.0 flash drive is one that we were able to test out thanks to iStorage, who provided us with the 8GB edition for testing. Thus, I can confidently say that this is one of the best around.

As you punch in the password, you’ll feel confident that losing your data when travelling will never be an issue. What’s more, you can get the datAshur USB stick with greater space, which is certainly useful for those who are data-hungry.

To summarise; if you want to protect your data whilst also taking full advantage of all that comes from owning a USB stick, then consider the datAshur Personal 2 USB 3.0 flash drive to be the obvious solution. Not only is it affordable, but it brings a key advantage to users – security.
