The Best Games Like Egg, Inc.

The mobile gaming industry is the home of simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics. Many mobile games boil down to extremely basic and straightforward controls, yet manage to attract and retain an audience due to presentation and implementation.

That’s certainly the case for Egg, Inc., an idle clicker game created by the Los Angeles-based studio Auxbrain. Egg, Inc. is currently available for Android and iOS devices, and it’s got a very straightforward setup: click to spawn chickens, chickens make you money.

Of course, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes when it comes to Egg, Inc.’s success, which is probably why not many games have managed to replicate that success.

Still, if you’re looking for the best games like Egg, Inc. out there, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some games you should check out if you’re a fan of Auxbrain’s clicker.

    Table of Contents
    1. AdVenture Capitalist
    2. Swarm Simulator
    3. Cookie Clicker
    4. Realm Grinder
    5. Clicker Heroes
    6. Tap Titans 2

    AdVenture Capitalist

    blank

Much like Egg, Inc., the goal in AdVenture Capitalist is simple: make a lot of money. The presentation is somewhat satirical and comedic in nature, casting you as a businessman with the aspiration of getting rich.

You start off with a humble lemonade stand, and you must do one thing to earn cash: click. As you do so, your business will grow in stature and profit, and before long, you’ll be at the head of a business empire, and you’ll be able to afford as many top hats and monocles as you like.

You’ll probably notice a couple of similarities between AdVenture Capitalist and Egg, Inc., and that may not be a coincidence; this could well be the game that started it all for Auxbrain. Check it out if you want a similar gameplay loop to Egg, Inc.

    Swarm Simulator

    blank

Okay, so Swarm Simulator doesn’t have the most engaging presentation in the world; it’s an entirely text-based affair, so you’ll have to imagine your world-conquering swarm growing as you click rather than watching it come to life.

Still, there’s something undeniably addictive about this simple game. It distils the essence of clicker games down to their very basics, but still manages to keep your interest thanks to the steadily incrementing figures, which prove pretty hypnotic after a while.

What’s more, Swarm Simulator is free to access online, so you don’t need to pay anything in order to start building your swarm. If you want something simpler than Egg, Inc. (if such a thing were possible), this is the game for you.

    Cookie Clicker

    blank

When Cookie Clicker was first revealed, it was met with bafflement by those who didn’t understand it. The game seemed almost like a parody of video games as a concept; all you do is…click?

Of course, Cookie Clicker proved to be a massive hit for that very reason; its simple mechanics combined with its constantly increasing stakes made it an immediate sensation.

The game is still available to play now, and it’s arguably the inspiration behind not only Egg, Inc., but also behind all other clicker games. Give this one a look if you want to see where it all began.

    Realm Grinder

    blank

Billing itself as “one of the deepest idle RPGs ever”, Realm Grinder is perfect if you want the basic gameplay loop of Egg, Inc. but you’re looking for some slightly more involved fantasy theming.

Kongregate’s game is available for both Android and iOS devices, and it involves building a kingdom up from a single lowly farm all the way to a mighty castle surrounded by battlements, houses, and the other trappings of a mediaeval town.

Several different factions are available for you to align yourself with, and the game also promises hundreds of upgrades that you can use to build your realm however you like. To put it simply, if you’re after a clicker RPG, this is the one for you.

    Clicker Heroes

    blank

Clicker Heroes is another ridiculous, over-the-top clicker RPG that substitutes complex gameplay mechanics for vast increases in power, allowing you to feel like a hero as you slay your way through hordes of monsters.

The game’s official website ponders what “one quadrillion damage per second feels like”, so you know what kind of ballpark you’re in for this one; it’s all about excess, not restraint.

Generally speaking, a clicker RPG needs a unique hook in order to catch an audience, especially with so many competitors available on the market, and Clicker Heroes’ sheer ode to glorious fantasy violence definitely qualifies on that front.

    Tap Titans 2

Last but not least, we have Tap Titans 2, another clicker RPG that casts you as an intrepid hero looking to defeat a lineup of foes using only your trusty finger and your mobile phone or tablet screen.

Tap Titans 2 promises a “full RPG experience on the go”, complete with a skill tree, “gorgeous hand-drawn” art, and 120 titans to slay. You’ll also get to collect equipment to upgrade and customise your hero, as well as joining clans to team up with like-minded heroes and slay titans as part of a team.

Make no mistake: much like Egg, Inc., Tap Titans 2 isn’t going to keep you awake at night pondering strategies in order to overcome its monumental complexity. However, as far as clicker RPGs go, this is a fun, breezy experience that’s likely to keep you hooked for many an hour as you tap your way through titan after titan.
