The second installment for the successful game which was first launched in 2003, Dota 2 was launched in 2013. An acronym for Defense of the Ancients (DotA), it is a multiplayer online battle arena game. The gameplay involves 2 teams consisting of 5 players each. Both the teams occupy separate bases on a map, and their objective is to protect their base from the enemy. Each of the 10 players has a unique supernatural ability and is known as a `hero´. The `heroes´ use their abilities to collect experience points, to defeat heroes from the opposing team. The ultimate goal is to destroy the opposite team’s `Ancient´, a large structure located within each team’s base.
Dota 2 is one of the biggest games on the esports scene, along with Fortnite and League of Legends. It has the largest prize pool of 219 million dollars. Naturally, the game is a favorite among esports bettors, with dedicated Dota 2 betting guide helping punters to try and place successful bets. Here are some of the common types of bets you can place on Dota 2.
Moneyline or match-winner
This is the simplest type of bet that you can place, based on which team you think will win. The bet can be on an individual game, or which team will win the best of three or best of five tournaments.
In case you do not want to bet on the entire match, you can opt to place your bet on a team that you think will win a certain map. In some cases where you are not sure about the team’s performance in a certain map, you can reserve your bet for another map.
In this bet, rather than betting on who you think will win the game, you can bet on the number of maps you think will be needed to be played in order to have a result.
For example, you can bet that a team will win 2-0 or whether the match will be taken into the third map. This is also known as a type of over and under betting.
Again a very simple type of betting, a punter has to guess on which team will be the first to make a kill in each map.
First to 10/20 kills
Similar to first blood, you have to predict which team will be the first to achieve 10 or 20 kills during the course of the game or on a specific map.
First Roshan or Second Roshan kill
First Roshan is the most powerful neutral creep on Dota 2, having a lot more power compared to any hero early on in the game. You can bet on which team will be the one to kill the first or the second Roshan on a specific map.
First to destroy Tower/Barracks
Towers are buildings located on each lane, which fire on any non-neutral enemy in its range, while Barracks are buildings that spawn lane creeps that move automatically towards the opposition’s Ancient. Individuals can bet on which team will be the first to destroy the towers or barracks or both during each specific map.
