Autumn is well and truly upon us now, and whether you love the shorter days or you’re counting the minutes until spring once again rolls around, one thing’s for sure: there are plenty of games to check out.
October is traditionally one of the busiest months on the gaming calendar, and this year is looking no different, with a glut of highly-anticipated games set to launch in the next few weeks.
We’ve collected the best of them here (or, at least, the ones we think will be the best of them), so without further ado, here are the best games to check out in October 2025!
Ghost of Yotei (PS5 – October 2nd)

The long-awaited sequel to 2019’s Ghost of Tsushima launches…well, tomorrow, at time of writing, so if you are excited to give this one a look, you won’t have to wait much longer.
Rather boldly for a sequel, Ghost of Yotei jumps forward a few hundred years, taking place in the 17th century as opposed to Tsushima’s 13th-century setting. It revolves around the story of wandering mercenary Atsu as she seeks vengeance for her murdered family.
If you’ve played Tsushima, you’ll probably know what to expect from this one; it’s not likely to break the mould too significantly, but if you liked Sucker Punch’s last open-world effort, you’ll probably enjoy this as well.
Battlefield 6 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series – October 10th)

After Battlefield 2042 arguably did its best to ruin the franchise from whence it came, Battlefield 6 is arriving later this month to (hopefully!) turn everything around at a stroke.
Set in the near future, the game will once again sport a single-player campaign, as well as a host of multiplayer modes to keep you happy if you’re the competitive type. Of course, seasonal updates will bring new stuff regularly as well.
What’s more, EA and its consortium of developers (see what we did there?) have repeatedly stressed that Battlefield 6 won’t feature any over-the-top, ridiculous skins like its rival Call of Duty frequently does.
Little Nightmares III (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, Switch – October 10th)

If you’re not feeling the modern military trappings of Battlefield 6, then perhaps Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games can tempt you with Little Nightmares III, a new instalment in the side-scrolling cinematic platformer series.
Much like Battlefield, you’ll probably know what to expect from this if you’ve played previous entries in the series; it’ll be a tense, spooky experience in which making the slightest mistake can (and probably will) get you killed.
Those who aren’t fans of the trial-and-error gameplay of Little Nightmares probably won’t find much to like here, but if you’re already enthralled by the franchise’s unique atmosphere and storytelling methods, then this will almost certainly be a treat for you.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A (Switch 2, Switch – October 16th)

Pokemon Legends: Arceus delighted us all back in 2022, and now, its successor Pokemon Legends: Z-A is here to continue keeping us entertained throughout the autumn.
This time around, the action shifts to a single city, namely the Kalos region’s Paris-inspired Lumiose, and you’ll be taking part in a thrilling battle tournament by night while helping to renovate the city by day.
The combat has shifted to a more action-focused style this time around as well, so it’s safe to say Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be a very different beast to its predecessor, although it’ll still have that magical Pokemon atmosphere you know and love.
Ninja Gaiden 4 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series – October 21st)

We can’t tell you how excited we are to get our hands on this latest mainline entry in the very, very long-running Ninja Gaiden series (although this is far from the fourth entry overall).
It’s promising more of the 3D hack-and-slash action we adore from this franchise, and hopefully, there’ll be less of the meddling with the formula that Ninja Gaiden 3 introduced.
If you’re hurting for straightforward, simple gaming experiences that ditch all of the psychological manipulation tricks developers seem to rely on these days, then Ninja Gaiden 4 should scratch that itch, katana and all.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series – October 21st)

We almost can’t believe this one will actually be seeing the light of day soon. It’s been an absolute age since Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was first announced, but its release is just around the corner.
You’ll pick one of several clans and experience the story of the Nomad, a vampire who wakes from a long sleep to find that their city is “on the brink of supernatural war”, as publisher Paradox puts it.
What’s more, you’ll be guided on your action RPG journey by Fabien, a “vampire detective” who embodies the most delightfully weird aspects of this setting.
The Outer Worlds 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series – October 29th)

Obsidian returns with its second RPG to launch this year, namely satirical sci-fi sequel The Outer Worlds 2, which follows the release of fantasy action RPG Avowed back in February.
We’ll lay our cards on the table and say we weren’t great fans of either The Outer Worlds or Avowed, so hopefully, this new game can show us why Obsidian deserves to keep its RPG crown.
It promises a deeper and more rewarding RPG experience than the first game, and we must admit that we’re excited to see if it can deliver on that promise.
Mina the Hollower (PC, PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch – October 31st)

Launching on the spookiest day of the year, Mina the Hollower is the next game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club, and the studio has actually developed this one rather than just serving as its publisher.
Where Shovel Knight took inspiration from the likes of Mega Man and Castlevania, Mina the Hollower is looking to Game Boy titles like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for its principal blueprint.
It’s a top-down action-adventure game in which you’ll be burrowing underground, fighting myriad enemies, and discovering powerful trinkets as you explore the mysterious Tenebrous Isle.
