Palworld is getting a card game

Creature-collecting survival game Palworld is officially getting its own card game adaptation later this year, developer Pocketpair announced at the start of the week.
The game will be launching on July 30th and will, naturally, be a trading card-style game based on Palworld, so you can expect new artwork of all your favourite creatures.
Pocketpair says the game will support two players during games and will offer “strategic and tactical battles” in which you’ll gather resources, build bases, and fight alongside Pals.
Hytale already has enough cash for two years of development time

It’s been a long and, at times, sad story for Hytale, but there was good news for the sandbox RPG this week, as it emerged that the developers already have enough money to support two years of development.
Not only that, but Hypixel’s Simon Collins-Laflamme says that he’s got a personal plan to support Hytale for at least ten years as well, which means that you should be able to enjoy the game for many years to come.
We’re expecting some pretty seismic sales numbers for this one when (and if) Hypixel releases them; it’s safe to say it’s been a success for the team.
Arc Raiders has sold 12 million copies

Just in case you were wondering exactly how much of a success Embark Studios’ Arc Raiders has been, the team announced this week that the game has sold 12 million copies.
To celebrate, the developer gifted players with a golden pickaxe which was originally meant to mark the 10 million sales milestone, but as Embark says, Arc Raiders “blew right past” that milestone over the holidays.
It’s onwards and upwards for the extraction shooter, which may come either as a relief or a worry for Bungie and its impending Marathon release.
Battlefield 6’s second season isn’t coming until February

EA revealed this week that you won’t be getting a second Battlefield 6 season until February, since the developer wants more time to “further polish and refine” what’s coming as part of the season.
Season 2 will now be coming on February 17th, which means that Season 1 will be extended as well; you’ll be getting a new extension update on January 20th, which will bring a new battle pass for you to work through.
You’ll be able to work on the bonus pass and the main pass at the same time, too, so you won’t need to choose which one you want to progress through.
The PlayStation Plus lineup for January has been revealed

Sony unveiled the PS Plus lineup for January this week, and it’s a stacked list, with a huge JRPG, an acclaimed survival horror game, and a brutal roguelite RPG for you to hack your way through.
This month’s list includes the likes of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Resident Evil Village, and Darkest Dungeon 2, as well as others like Expeditions: A MudRunner Game and A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.
Premium subscribers, meanwhile, can take advantage of PS Plus’ retro side to check out the original Ridge Racer, which comes with all the usual Plus modernisations.
New World is officially shutting down in 2027

We already knew that Amazon’s New World wasn’t getting any more development updates, but now, the retail giant has announced when you can expect the MMO to close its doors completely.
New World will be shutting down on January 31st next year, and as of this week, the game is also no longer available for purchase, so if you missed your chance to get it, you’re not going to be able to pick it up now.
In-game currency purchases will halt on July 20th, too, although you’ll still be able to spend your Marks of Fortune wherever you want to.
A new Life Is Strange game will be revealed this coming week

Square Enix announced this week that a new Life Is Strange game will be announced in the coming days, after a PEGI listing revealed something called Life Is Strange: Reunion.
We don’t yet know what the new game will be or what the story will focus on, but it’s nice to know the series will be continuing, at any rate.
The studio is promising a full reveal for the next Life Is Strange title on January 20th, so it’s not going to be very long before we learn more.
Ace Combat 7 sales have hit 7 million

Are you a fan of flight combat series Ace Combat? If so, then you’ll be pleased to know that Ace Combat 7 hit a big sales milestone this week.
The game has crossed seven million sales as of January 17th, and that figure also marks 21 million sales for the franchise as a whole. It turns out these games are pretty popular!
An eighth Ace Combat game, Wings of Theve, is due to be released sometime this year, and we have no doubt that one will do gangbusters as well.
The Division’s creative lead has joined EA

Julian Gerighty, the executive producer for Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise (yeesh), has left his former studio to join up with EA and its Battlefield assembly.
Gerighty will be joining Battlefield Studios, but Ubisoft says that the direction of Massive Entertainment when it comes to The Division remains unchanged.
If you need reminding, that direction includes new DLC and content for The Division 2, as well as a third mainline game which is currently in the works.
