An Ultimate Selection of the Best Laptops for Students

Most of the students prefer laptops to stationary personal computers. No wonder, as having a mobile computer is much more convenient. And with quarantine regulations and distance learning, no student can avoid the need to have one. But, while you need the laptop for studying and homework, choosing the right one can be homework on its own.

There is a stunning amount of options, from the most basic 300$ machines which are only suitable for writing texts, editing essays like here https://studyfy.com/essay-editing, and watching movies, to high-end 3000$ beasts which can be suitable even for 3d modeling and editing high-quality videos.

To find a perfect match for your needs, you need to analyze them first. Think of the most important points in your future laptop. For example, if you’re a computer science student, you’d need a machine with decent characteristics, especially CPU and RAM. And they can be very pricey. For art students and the ones who like to write notes by hand, a 2-in-1 laptop which transforms into a tablet would be the best option.

Just analyze what you need, take your budget into consideration, and read this list of the best offers on the laptop market to find a perfect working station.

    Table of Contents
    1. MacBook Air M1
    2. Acer Swift 3
    3. Microsoft Surface Go 2
    4. HP Chromebook 14
    5. Google Pixelbook Go
    6. To Sum Up

    MacBook Air M1

Let’s start with the most famous one, being a product of Apple, of course. As everyone knows, MacBooks are pretty expensive, at least compared to their Windows competitors. Costing 1000$, this version has an M1 silicon chip, which is a completely new powerful processor. Many specialists consider it game-changing, as it provides the highest performance of any Apple processor.

Also, as you would expect, it has all the famous features of MacBooks. From its stunning screen to one of the most comfortable to use keyboards ever. For those who have enough money and don’t mind the macOS, I would strongly suggest going with this option.

    • CPU: Apple M1 chip with 8?core CPU
    • GPU: Integrated 7-core – 8-core GPU
    • RAM: 8GB – 16GB
    • Storage: 256GB – 2TB SSD
    • Display: 13.3-inch Retina, 2560 x 1600
    • Price: 1000$

An alternative for Mac devices is an iPad snapped into a keyboard case with trackpad like the ones you can find in Typecase.

    Acer Swift 3

Acer Swift 3 has the best value-to-performance rates on the market. They are provided with well-known AMD Ryzen processors, which can compete with many laptops that cost 2 times more, like MacBook Pro for example. Another notable point of this cheap beast is its keyboard, which is really a pleasure to use.

The laptop is provided with a fingerprint scanner, ensuring that nobody except for you will be able to use it. For the price of 680$, one would probably expect the chassis to be plastic. But the Acer surprises us once again, as the chassis is made from aluminum.

The only weak point of Swift is its display, which doesn’t show all the colors as you would expect them to be. It can be described as pretty “dull” and color-lacking.

    • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U
    • GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics
    • RAM: 8GB
    • Storage: 512GB HDD
    • Display: 14-inch, 1080p
    • Price: 680$

    Microsoft Surface Go 2

This one is one of the 2-in-1 laptops mentioned in the beginning. This portable computer and tablet is a good choice for any student. The price is reasonable, the characteristics could fulfill the basic needs and the display is good.

What stands out is its premium design and high-quality chassis, which could leave an impression of a top-level machine. However, it’s not, as the base models provide the most basic experience, and the advanced ones still lack some power. Yet, it’s still a decent contender in its field and would perfectly suit most students.

    • CPU: 8th Gen Intel Core m3 – Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4425Y
    • GPU: Intel HD Graphics 615
    • RAM: 4GB – 8GB
    • Storage: 64GB eMMC – 128GB SSD
    • Screen: 10.5 inch, 1080p
    • Price: 400$

    HP Chromebook 14

Being much less powerful compared to other Chromebooks, this little machine can still satisfy most of your needs. It has a decent display, somewhat decent characteristics, and a good trackpad. But, the winning point of Chromebook 14 is its portability and price.

Even the pickiest students on low budgets would be surprised. For its performance, a price of 260$ may seem like a joke, but it’s not. Overall, this would be the best choice if one doesn’t have time to spare money for a more powerful machine or simply needs the most basic experience. Just don’t expect it to handle some demanding software.

    • CPU: AMD A4 – A6, Intel Celeron N3350 – N3450
    • GPU: AMD Radeon R4 – R5, Intel HD Graphics 500
    • RAM: 4GB – 8GB
    • Storage: 16GB – 64GB eMMC
    • Display: 14-inch diagonal SVA anti-glare, 720p – IPS BrightView 1080p
    • Price: 260$

    Google Pixelbook Go

Recently, Google has released the Go version of their famous Pixelbook line. Although being slightly less powerful than its bigger brothers, it still has impressive characteristics. Many users love the Pixelbooks for their sleek design, and this model isn’t an exception, as it looks fantastic.

Having high-level characteristics for its price and an impressive display, Go still has some aces up its sleeves. The first is a stunning battery life, which won’t leave even the most demanding users disappointed. And the second one is pretty important, considering that all students now study from their homes in online classes. It’s the 1080p webcam, which would surely impress all of your classmates with the quality of the image.

Honestly speaking, this is probably the most universal option on our list.

    • CPU: Intel Core m3 – i7
    • GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 615
    • RAM: 8GB – 16GB
    • Storage: 64GB – 256GB
    • Display: 13,3 inch, Full HD Display – 4K Ultra HD Molecular Display
    • Price: 650$

    To Sum Up

Choosing the right machine for your demands is a tedious process. But you wouldn’t want to make a rash decision and be disappointed later, would you? We hope this article was useful and will help you find a perfect laptop that will last you at least until graduation.
