  • The Best Characters To Appear in GTA Games (1997 – 2016)

Say what you will about DMA design / Rockstar North’s crazy car-jack and criminally oriented series of open world sandbox games, but two things are apparent – they are engrossing and highly entertaining. Apart from the fact that with each new release they seem to completely revolutionize video game design and fan expectations, the Grand Theft Auto crew has also given birth to a very creative and strange assortment of characters down throughout the ages. We’re talking about figures here which tend to be extremely zany, wild or even direct parodies of well-known figures and celebrities. In celebration of this, we’ve slapped together a list of some of the “best” or most interesting characters to appear in GTA games (circa…

After breaking an incredible number of sales records around the world, its developer, Rockstar, has demonstrated clear intentions to keep on improving its basic sandbox model and formula. We all knew that this was the case of course, that each new installment in the series would see myriad upgrades be they graphical or gameplay-related. But what we were treated to with Grand Theft Auto V…….well, let’s just say that it completely exceeded any and all expectations. Right now, we’re going to take a look at some of GTA V’s more interesting aspects, i.e. – what separated it from the rest of the herd and likely initiated its…

  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Review

Following the overwhelming success of GTA III, Vice City arrived around a year later and further amped up the visibility as well as popularity of the franchise. Rather than being a completely new redesign of the basic system established by its predecessor, this installment basically just changed the locale and upgraded various aspects accordingly. Don’t get the wrong idea though, this wasn’t a sloppy, rushed job…nor did they rest on their laurels and “phone it in”. This would mark the formal formation of Rockstar North, which (as you well know) would go on to accomplish bigger and better things. Nevertheless, Vice City can be seen as a transitional triumph – a stellar example of how to make a follow-up game…

  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Review

Grand Theft Auto III might have introduced the world to the splendor of open world sandbox fun, Vice City improved upon the model, but it was the magnificent San Andreas which truly exploded the series into another dimension. While we have GTA V and IV to now sink our teeth into, SA remains unique in the series. There are so many interesting facets to this game; from its impossibly large world and overall wackiness, to its obvious incremental improvements, it is the very definition of fun and exciting.   It is in GTA: San Andreas that we finally see more and more true RPG elements coming to light, which ultimately turns the game into a much more dynamic experience with more…

  • Grand Theft Auto IV Review

Released onto PC, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, Grand Theft Auto IV was almost immediately hailed as one of the greatest things to come along in video gaming, some calling it “the greatest game ever made”. Such accolades seem like they’re way too far-fetched, but considering just how much content, variety and sheer lunacy developer Rockstar North managed to smash into this title, it’s not surprising. First off, the same basic 3D open world design concepts, replete with all the trappings of its predecessor are found herein. But it is all the refinements, both graphical and gameplay, that ultimately pushed it over the top. …Not only that, but the way they developed the character also created perhaps an even…

  • Grand Theft Auto III Review

When you trace the roots of the 3rd person sandbox revolution to its inception you eventually arrive at Grand Theft Auto 3. To call this game a “landmark” almost doesn’t do it justice. In fact, this title basically opened the floodgates in a thousand different directions, simultaneously upping the ante of what was considered possible while also igniting the imaginations of gamers and developers the world over. Having a large city to roam around in and basically do whatever you like is STILL a very appealing thing, obviously (as clearly evidenced by the overwhelming success of GTA V) and we have this game to thank for that. DMA design created a really magnetic and somewhat bleak world here, filled with…
